SARAYA Australia participates with St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital in the World Hand Hygiene Day 2022 "UNITE FOR SAFETY - CLEAN YOUR HANDS"
SARAYA Kenya recently partnered with Waka Waka Foundation and local community organizations in a jigger treatment support activity held in Emuhaya Sub-County, Vihiga County. The initiative aimed to support individuals affected by tungiasis (jiggers) through treatment, prevention, and community outreach.
Treatment and Care
The patients underwent a treatment session using SARAYA’s Jigger Lotion, providing care for individuals affected by tungiasis. During the activity, healthcare teams attended to patients of different ages, including several severe cases that required assistance to reach the treatment venue.
Following treatment, patients received shoes to help protect them from reinfection and support their recovery
Community Engagement
The event brought together patients, caregivers, healthcare teams, and community partners in a coordinated effort to address the challenges associated with jigger infestation. The activity provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about treatment options and preventive measures.
Hope Returning
As part of the event, participants took part in a drawing session where they illustrated activities they looked forward to doing after treatment. The session provided a creative way for patients to share their aspirations and experiences while highlighting the positive impact that treatment can have on daily life.
Prevention and Awareness
Alongside treatment, the initiative emphasized hygiene education and prevention practices to help reduce the risk of future infections. Through partnerships and community-driven efforts, the activity reinforced the importance of combining treatment with awareness and long-term support.
SARAYA Kenya remains committed to supporting initiatives that improve community health and contribute to sustainable solutions for people affected by tungiasis.
